Lemon balm is (Melissa officinalis), also known as balm or balm mint and not to be confused with bee balm, is perennial herb in the mint family Lamiaceae, native to center-southern Europe and the Mediterranean region. Melissa oil is extracted from Melissa officinalis of the Labiates family and is also known as balm, lemon balm, as well as common, sweet and bee balm.
